A Mother's Christmas

Twas the days before Christmas and all through the house
Nothing but chaos was looming about
The stockings weren't hung by the chimney with care
And poor momma was ready to pull out her hair

The children were trying to nestle into bed
When something popped into one teens head
Out of his mouth it came without thinking
And poor momma just stared at him without blinking

Mom does not clean?
The house is a mess?
Even after momma cleans up her best?
This could not be!
It could not be right
Momma thought that pre-Christmas night.

Momma got up and she started to clean
She cleaned high and low and everything in between
And as she scrubbed both high and low
An idea in her mind started to grow

She looked around and was proud of the sight
And quickly realized her son's ideas were not right
She could clean and do just fine
But her children's cleaning skills were way out of line

Bright and early the next morn
Sweet momma was no longer forlorn
She woke each child all bright and cheery
Knowing soon their day would be dreary

Cleaning training - start it must
Without it their lives would be a bust
Momma dealt the chores out
To which each child gave a pout

And on those joyous pre-Christmas Days
My sweet children learned to change their ways
No more chaos would be about
As thoughtless statements would no longer come out.
